1st XI secure vital win on return to action
The OHAFC 1st XI secured three vital points against strugglers Cholms at Harrow on Saturday, David Lederman's first-half penalty and the side's first clean sheet of the season earning the home side a narrow but deserved 1-0 win.
With two disappointing defeats to Salopians and Malvern prior to Christmas the pressure was on Ed Poulter's men to dispel any gathering relegation fears with a solid display and that's exactly what the skipper received.
The home side enjoyed an excellent opening twenty minutes but had to wait until shortly before the break to open the scoring, a swift counter-attack ended with Pepys and Gilbert being unfairly shoved in the box, referee Richard Wilson pointing to the spot. Lederman, who had come on as an early substitute, tucked away his second spot-kick of the season, sending the 'keeper the wrong way.
The second half was an even and unspectacular affair, the visitors nearly snatching a share of the points from an over-hit cross which flew over Harrow 'keeper Charlie McHardy and rebounding off the inside of the far post.
But Harrow deservedly held on without further alarm to lift themselves into fourth in the table and put considerable daylight between themselves and bottom two teams Cholms and Malvern.
