1st XI off to a flyer with win over Marlborough
OHAFC 1st XI 3 Old Marlburians 1st XI 0
A very impressive performance from the 1st XI in their first pre-season friendly against Premier Division new boys Old Marlburians. The game was played under lights in Colliers Wood on Tuesday night. The squad included three substitutes who were either returning from injury (Hugo Trower and Stof Magrath) or ill (Vice-Captain Fred Richardson suffering from a bug).
Harrow started very strongly with great energy and were by far the better side in the opening exchanges. At the back, Yunus Sert was composed and Jaguar Bajwa, assertive. Captain Ed Poulter played well in the middle of the park and Dan Firoozan tore the Marlburians apart down the left-hand side. Alex Gilbert was providing pace and directness from the right flank.
Harrow scored three good goals in first half - two from Gilbert and one from Trower on his return from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained last year. Hugo sprinted 60 yards from left back to meet a fine Gilbert cross with a pin point header.
Fitness levels dropped in the second half and Marlborough were able to play their way back into the game. However, skipper Ed Poulter will be especially pleased with a clean sheet.
The 1s next game is a friendly versus Stowe on Thursday 27th August.
