1s throw away vital win with late capitulation
The OHAFC 1st XI threw away the chance of a superb win at home to the Old Alleynians in infuriating fashion on Saturday afternoon, surrendering a three-goal lead with under a quarter of an hour left to draw 5-5 with their rivals.
A James Breeden hat-trick, including two penalties, plus further goals from James Tippett and George Gould, appeared to have secured the points as an excellent second half display lifted the Blues clear of the visitors.
But the final quarter of an hour proved a chastening experience as the rain lashed down on Harrow Hill. Alleynians took advantage of a couple of defensive errors, scoring their equaliser in the final minute to screams of jubilation.
The draw keeps both sides in touch near the top of the Premier Division but prevented the OHAFC from climbing into second and what would have been their highest League position in seven years.
