The OHAFC returned to Colliers Wood FC on Monday night for their final pre-season fixture of the season and one that promised a stern test, the visit of Kings Wimbledon Old Boys, a side who finished in the top half of the Premier Division last season.
Confidence in the Harrow ranks was high however, with victories over the Old Marlburians and Old Stoics already under their belt and they began Monday night's game on the front foot, slowly forcing Kings back into their own half as the opening period wore on.
Despite this, the greatest threat to either goal came from two excellent runs from the pacey Kings left winger who twice got behind the Harrow back four, delivering a dangerous cross on the first occasion and pulling the ball back to the edge of the box the second time, where skipper Mike Tilles was unlucky not to score with a delicate chip that beat McGuiness but not the crossbar.
Harrow maintained their momentum however and were rewarded for their endeavours when some pressing high up the pitch allowed Firoozan to collect a loose ball and feed Gilbert on the edge of the box. The striker made no mistake, planting a firm shot inside the far post.
For the remainder of the half the Blues continued to dominate possession but they were prevented from really testing the Kings goalkeeper due to a combination of lone striker Gilbert being rather isolated and some poor quality balls into the box.
At half-time two changes were made, with Newton and Lederman coming on. The first twenty minutes of the second half were a more even affair with Kings keeping the ball better and stringing together several promising attacks. Harrow were forced to defend a number of corners but the back four of Trower, Milln, Molloy and Lalude coped well.
As the game entered it's final twenty minutes Harrow's superior fitness began to tell and the side started to find pockets of space that had hitherto eluded them. Firoozan and Gilbert combined well down the left and the latter was unlucky not to connect with several through balls that would have left him one-on-one with the 'keeper.
The win was assured from one such attack down the left with Gilbert providing a cross to the back post for the arriving Lederman to thump a volley back across goal. Although the 'keeper made an excellent stop, the rebound provided a simple tap-in for Richardson.
It was another very encouraging performance from Ed Poulter's side, who appear to be more than ready for the first League fixture at home to Repton on Saturday.
