The final preparation game before the start of the season saw Taunton-Collin’s side lose 3-2 to Millfield on astroturf last Saturday. Despite regulars Pittalis, Massey, Kerry and Ollie Curry being unavailable for selection, the skipper was able to field a healthy squad of thirteen to face a decent opposition which had gained promotion from Division 3 last season.

The first half an hour was very even with few goalmouth incidents to speak of. However, Harrow failed to defend a threatening cross from the right which was headed in at the far post by Millfield’s number 10. The Blues conceded another in quick succession – Fraser McGuinness given no chance after a sweetly struck shot from the opposition’s left winger flew into the top left hand corner. Nonetheless, Harrow were playing some tidy football, especially down the right hand side where the Bajwa brothers, Newton, Lederman and Taunton-Collins were combining.

In the second half, despite conceding an early goal to make it 3-0 to the away side, Harrow went through the gears and produced a fine passing display. Giles Newton bagged a goal after scrapping to win the ball in the Millfield box - just reward for the midfielder as he had worked hard all game. Max Curry was knocking at the door throughout the second period, latching onto some searching Lederman passes. He got on the score sheet by finishing off a McGuinness through ball with a fine lob to make it 3-2.

Notable performances were from Theo Gordon and Anthony Beresford who were dogged throughout the 90 minutes.

Due to the holiday season, the 2s will be without a number of their first choice players for their trip to Haberdashers at the weekend.
